Dental Emergencies, Riverside Dental Care, New York, NY 10023

Dental Emergencies

Emergencies are always unexpected and often serious. When you have a dental emergency, call our office at (646) 906-9676 right away. We will make room in our schedule to see you as soon as possible.

Here are some helpful tips for handling dental emergencies until you can come see us.

  • Toothache

For a severe toothache, you can get temporary relief using one of the pain relievers available at your local pharmacy. But a severe toothache means you have a serious dental problem that needs to be fixed right away. Call us for an appointment so we can examine your teeth to find out what’s causing your pain and provide a remedy.

  • Chipped tooth

If you’ve chipped a tooth, you should rinse your mouth with warm water. To protect the inside of your mouth, you can cover any rough edges with dental wax available at your local pharmacy. Call us for an appointment right away.

  • Tooth knocked out

    1. If you’ve had a tooth knocked out, don’t pick it up by the root end; pick it up using the top end where the enamel is. Gently rinse it off with water, but don’t use soap, alcohol, or anything else to clean the tooth.
    2. Try to gently put the tooth back in its socket. This is the best place for it to be while you are coming in for treatment. If you can’t put it back in place, hold it in your mouth between your gum and cheek, or cover it with milk. You can also use a preservation product available at your local pharmacy.
    3. Call our office immediately and come in for emergency treatment. Your chances of saving the tooth are much better if you can get treatment within one hour of the tooth being knocked out.

Dental Implants

Your options for replacing missing teeth have improved. Now you can choose dental implants to replace just one tooth, or several. If you need all your upper or lower teeth replaced, dental implants are ideal for that, too. Implants are permanently attached to your jawbone, much like your natural teeth. They stay in your mouth at night, and you care for them the same way you take care of your natural teeth—with brushing and flossing.

With dental implants, we won’t have to drill down the enamel of adjacent teeth like we would with a bridge. The implant is a titanium post which gets attached to your jawbone. The replacement tooth is attached to this metal post, which holds the tooth in place just like the roots on a natural tooth. Call us for a consultation to see if dental implants are right for you.

Invisalign

Are you unhappy with your smile? Invisalign clear braces can straighten your teeth and give you the even-looking smile you want. And you don’t need to worry about that metal smile of traditional braces, because the Invisalign clear aligner trays are virtually invisible.

You can also clean your teeth more easily when you have Invisalign braces. You simply remove the trays, brush and floss, and put the trays back on your teeth. Much easier and faster than trying to clean around the wires and brackets of traditional braces.

Call us for an appointment to discuss what Invisalign clear braces can do for you.

Teeth In A Day

Would you like to replace your dentures with teeth that are permanently attached? Whether you need just an upper or lower set of teeth, or both, Teeth in a Day just might be the answer you’ve been looking for. With advances in implant technology, we can now place your implant posts and attach your replacement teeth all in one day. Your new teeth are permanently secured to the titanium implant posts, giving you a great, natural-looking smile while allowing you to eat and speak normally. Call us for an appointment to find out if you’re a candidate for Teeth in a Day.

Preventive Dentistry

The best way for you to keep a healthy smile is to prevent cavities and gum disease. This is the focus of preventive dentistry. Here are some of the preventive dental procedures we offer:

  • Dental Exams and X-rays help us detect and treat cavities and gum disease early.
  • Gum Disease Care helps get rid of bacteria which cause soreness and can lead to infections and tooth loss.
  • Dental Cleanings remove plaque buildup and help prevent cavities.
  • Pediatric Dental Care for children who have cavities, misaligned teeth and other dental issues, just like adults.
  • Oral Cancer Screenings provide early detection and greatly improve your chances of successfully treating oral cancer.
  • Snoring and Sleep Apnea can affect your overall health. Oral appliances can help eliminate these problems.

Preventive dentistry is key to maintaining your natural smile. Let me help you keep your natural teeth for life. Call (646) 414-6238 to make an appointment for your dental exam and X-rays.

Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry

When you have problems with your smile because of missing, crooked or discolored teeth, we use cosmetic and restorative dental procedures to restore the health and appearance of your teeth and give you a great smile. These are some of the cosmetic and restorative procedures we perform:

  • Porcelain Veneers can fix many problems with your smile, including teeth that are stained, uneven or have gaps between them.
  • Porcelain Crowns are used to repair and strengthen damaged teeth and are designed to look natural.
  • Teeth Whitening  brightens discolored teeth, giving you a much whiter smile.
  • Root Canals  can save a tooth that has become badly infected, so you don’t have to get it pulled.
